Keep It Moving

One weekend my mother and I took a trip to Atlanta to spend the day. We didn’t spend the night so it was dark when we were heading back home. I was really tired on the ride back so I jokingly said, “Are we there yet?”

I knew we weren’t though. Her response was, “We are closer than we have ever been.” I laughed and said, “Well yes that is obvious because we have been moving forward since we started.”

After I said this I thought about a section in my new book (coming Fall 2013) where I talk about the importance of always staying progressive. See the excerpt below:

If a fear of moving, or fear of the unknown that lies ahead, is keeping you from venturing out, you will lose. God is progressive; He’s always moving and doing. So if we remain still, there is no way we can stay with Him. If “faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen,”26 there will be times when the future is unknown to us. That’s why we are told to lean not on our own understanding but to trust in Him.27

All of the miracles we read about in the Bible involved action from the people involved. The man with the withered hand had to stretch out his hand before it was healed (Matthew 12:13). The sick man at the pool of Bethsaida had to rise, take up his bed, and walk (John 5:8). The man born blind had to go wash in the pool of Siloam (John 9:7). The paralyzed man brought to Jesus had to arise, take up his bed, and go home (Matthew 9:6).

Others may be able to intercede on our behalf, but action is still required of us. The paralyzed man’s friends knew Jesus could heal him, but they had to tear off the roof of someone’s house to get him to Jesus.

If we want something, we have to put some pep behind our step to obtain it. God will do His part, but we must do our part as well.

I wanted to share this with you to emphasize the importance of staying focused and staying progressive in the works that God has called you to do. You will always be ahead of the person who refuses to get moving regardless of your pace. However, you will defeat yourself every single time that you choose to remain stagnant and unproductive.

Every step forward that you take you are one step closer than you have ever been before. Don’t give up and remember that it is all about progress and not perfection!!

Get Moving and Keep Moving!! There is no time to look back!

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.”

Psalm 37:23 (KJV)
