Let It Burn

The other day I bought a fitness book.  In it has workout tips/information and examples for each body part. One of the tips that they provided was pertaining to muscle growth. They stated that in order to form more muscle you must train your muscles to the point of fatigue.  This will create a training stimulus that inevitably will cause your body to form more muscles (Nina Winkler).

I have been working out for some time now so I knew that even if it hurt you had to push past that to finish the set but many times I would find myself quitting the moment the burn starts to kick it. The moment it is uncomfortable and feels unbearable I would find myself wanting to stop.

I loved reading this because it reminded me that the results that I want would be birthed out of my pain. Ouch! Yes, I know right! Taking it easy and quitting prematurely is almost like not even going to the gym in the first place because training inappropriately rarely produces the desired results.

This can be a gentle reminder to us even in our life. When we find that things we are going through gets  too tough or is becoming increasingly painful we tend to withdraw from the process and simply quit.  Great results & strength are birthed from the pain you induce on yourself in the gym….this can be applied in life too. The results, the victory, and the strength that you want to experience from every situation will not come from quitting prematurely but instead it will come when you stick it out and push past the pain to the finish line.

The book says that you need to push your muscles to fatigue. That just sounds like a crazy thing to do but it works and this is the mentality that we need to have. Whenever we are being pushed to a weary and fatigue place we can take rest and find peace in the fact that it just means that we are gaining strength and muscle.

You want to carry more weight and have more responsibilities in your life? (Blessings come with more responsibility) Then be prepared to get in God’s “Gym” and prepare to lift some weight. Push past the pain and just let it burn! It will all be well worth it when you are done!
