Don’t Sit on Your Blessing

A couple of Sunday’s ago I participated as a model in the Pink Bridal Show Fashion Show. At the end of the show they were having some prize drawings and for one particular prize they called all of the grooms up to the stage and praised them for actually coming to a bridal show, where the number of men that actually attend are very slim; there were about 16 to 17 men on the stage. The men did not get on the stage with getting a reward in mind however. Right before they dismissed the men off the stage the speaker said, “since you guys actually came to the show we are going to give each of you a FREE platinum wedding band!” They were overjoyed of course and within moments about 4 to 5 more men that were still sitting ended up running up to the stage and jumping on to join the other men who were already standing. It wasn’t until those few men that were sitting heard that there was a reward for attending that they jumped up to make their attendance known.

I feel that we end up doing the exact same thing that these men did but in our own everyday lives. We find ourselves not wanting to jump with excitement unless we are getting something out of it. You might find yourself saying, “what’s in it for me?” We don’t want to make our self available and be present when asked until we are given some sort of incentive.

There may be times when God asks us to do something or help someone or talk to someone and there may be no physical gain or benefit for us. Stepping out of ourselves and being selfless regardless if the camera is rolling or not and regardless if there is a reward or not.

Doing everything with diligence and excellence should be the standard. You just never know who God has assigned to bless you so whatever you do…do it like you are doing it for God…and it is my hopes that it would excellent and not sloppy. You just never know, you showing up when you really didn’t have to may just be reason enough for a blessing to be bestowed to you.

∆ Phone God: Thank you Daddy for the awesome blessings that you have given me and for the awesome ones you have stored up just for me. It is my desire to be diligent in all that I do and to do everything with excellence. Help me to maintain a grateful and humble attitude and help me to be selfless in all that I do. In Jesus name, amen.

∆ Chew on this:
° “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” – Colossians 3:23

∆ Ponder on this:
° Do you only do things that benefit solely you?
° Do you struggle with selfishness?
° Have you ever not done something or gone somewhere but after hearing how such a blessing it was you found yourself saying, “man I wish I went/did it now!”

∆ Act on this:
° Become more disciplined in all that you do.
° In all that you do, keep in mind that it is bigger than you.
